"Incidences" is an eight-page book created as a final project for an image-focused visual communications class at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. The book illustrates the poem "The Plummeting Old Woman" by Daniil Kharms, a Russian absurdist author of the early 20th century. It combines actual historical images of WWII-era Russia with bright, simple geometries inspired by that of the Russian constructivist movement.
Text was set in Rotis Semi Serif. Printed at the Service Bureau at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. Binding by the artist. Historical images courtesy of the LIFE photo archive as well as public domain media at Wikimedia Commons.
