My work in graphic design deals mainly with bold, simplistic geometries which illustrates information presented concisely and cleanly. It demonstrates ideas in works informed by modernist artists such as Moholy-Nagy, Kandinsky and Klee. It pushes the Bauhaus ideal into a new direction for the twenty first century.
I'm influenced by the simple, elegant principles of form and color found in nature and the world. Sketches of natural objects are made, as I find many of the most beautiful geometries can be formed from natural abstraction. From here, composites are rendered and finalized forms appear. My work is typically rendered digitally but not always. Utilizing skills in computer graphics, traditional printmaking techniques and photographic processes I meld classic concepts into new and creative ideas.
Starting from work for a small high school paper, I’ve constantly refined, studied and improved my process as I’ve matured and found new inspirations. Advertising work for my community college paper received a national award from the Associated Collegiate Press. Select independent prints and posters have received recognition from the Hinsdale Chamber of Commerce and Moraine Valley Community College.
